Corporate Social Responsibilities Of Pepsi Co Essay
Introduction The purpose is to highlight the complexities in operating a company in a socially responsible manner while remaining profitable. In addition, outlining key areas essential to meeting evolving needs of stakeholders. Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) is broken down into four responsibilities: economic, ethical, legal, and philanthropic. (Carroll Buchholtz, 34) Moreover, companiesââ¬â¢ responsibilities are evolving in regards to society and the global industry as a whole. Company position According to Fortune 500 list, Pepsi Co. is the number 43 highlighting Pepsiââ¬â¢s continued success. Also, Pepsi Co. operates within the soda and snack industry against rival competitor Coca Cola and other soft drink brands. Pepsi Co. is one of only a handful of fortune 500 companies run by women. Mrs. Indra K. Nooyi biography states she assumed command of Pepsi Co. in 2006 as CEO and is the driving force for the companies CSR initiatives. (Pepsi: Leadership) Corporate Social Responsibilities Ethical responsibilities Pepsi Co. classifies ethical responsibilities as a high priority ranging from human rights issues to the caramel food coloring used in their products. Pepsi Co. publicizes basic needs for human rights issues are respect, equality, and dignity of work. Furthermore, Pepsi Co. meets these basic needs by providing safe working conditions, competitive pay, non-hostile working environment and meeting local, federal work requirements.
